Tractors, vintage and veteran cars will converge on Quirindi this weekend, May 4 and 5, for the 25th annual Heritage Festival and swap meet.

On Saturday morning the swap meet starts at 7am and the street procession through the town and out to the village - 3km west of Quirindi on the Gunnedah Road - begins at 9.30am. More than 120 swap sites will open on Saturday from 7am and Sunday from 8am.
Admission is $10, under 16 $2.

Bendemeer Art Show
When: Thursday, May 2 - Sunday, May 5
The 40th annual Colours of Autumn Bendemeer Art Show, hosted and catered by the Bendemeer CWA, is one of the yearly highlights on the local calendar, exhibiting and selling artwork from around the country.
The 40th annual Art Exhibition and sale at the Bendemeer Town Hall, runs 10am - 4pm daily, with drinks and canapés on Friday, May 3 starting at 6pm. Bookings essential for opening night.
Navigating the Past Exhibition
When: Until May 4, from 8am to 5pm
Where: Tamworth Regional Gallery foyer
Join us as we share the ways in which our Museums oldest objects and contemporary adversaries navigate between each other with their shared connections. These objects will evoke memories of the past, the sharing of these memories keeps the history alive and assists us in navigating our own past and we continue into the future.

Great Nundle Dog Race
When: Sunday, May 5 @ 9:30am - 3pm
Dog lovers from far and wide gather at Nundle for a fun, family day of events for dogs of all shapes and sizes. Races for mongrels and house dogs, high jump, steeple chase, there's something for everyone. The day culminates in The Great Nundle Dog Race for working dogs. Lots of entertainment, kids activities and great food.
Currabubula Art Show
When: May 10 - 12 @ 10am - 4pm daily
Head to Currabubula for four days of art culture and community during the 2024 Australian Red Cross Currabubula Branch Art Show. The event will be held at Currabubula Hall and showcase the talent of artists from near and far.
Day tickets cost $15 for couples, singles $10, children under 16 free. Opening night will be held on Thursday, May 9, from 6pm to 9pm, with a 60's theme, $20pp; bookings are essential.

Archibald Prize 2023 Regional Tour
When: May 10 - June 23
First awarded in 1921, the Archibald Prize was established following a bequest from former Art Gallery trustee and founder of The Bulletin magazine JF Archibald (1856-1919), whose aim was to foster portraiture, support artists and perpetuate the memory of great Australians.
The open competition has been awarded annually (with two exceptions: 1964 and 1980) to the best portrait, 'preferentially of some man or woman distinguished in arts, letters, science or politics, painted by any artist resident in Australasia'.
Entries to the Archibald Prize must be painted in the past year from at least one live sitting.

To help new residents meet and greet while learning about what our region has to offer, council is hosting a "Community Meet and Greet" on Monday, 20 May at the Tamworth Community Centre.
This event aims to facilitate new connections with community organisations, businesses and volunteer groups. And it's FREE!
Expect to meet with local community groups, organisations and council members to help learn more about the community and how you can contribute to it.
